Marlow has a number of parks and recreation grounds and its Leisure Complex in Higginson Park includes a putting green, tennis courts, a children’s large well-equipped play area and a small swimming pool.
In addition, there are adequate facilities and opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing and boating in the area.
Other local sports include Marlow Rugby Club www.marlowrfc.com and the Prince of Wales is a proud sponsor of this very active club, which was founded in 1947.
Premier league professional rugby can be seen at London Wasps www.londonwasps.com who play at Adams Park in High Wycombe; London Irish at the Madejski Stadium in Reading, plus Saracens at Watford.
In addition to Marlow FC, which again is sponsored and supported by the Prince of Wales there are professional football clubs at nearby High Wycombe and Reading.
Although a small town, Marlow can boast 2 Cricket Clubs, Tennis, Hockey, Bowls and more recently, Marlow Striders, a running club based at Marlow Sports Club.
The golfer too is well catered for with 4 adjacent golf clubs at Harleyford, Winter Hill in Cookham, Flackwell Heath, Hedsor and the public course Wycombe Heights.
Other nearby attractions include Hughenden Manor and park, the home of Disraeli; Cliveden, a National Trust property, once the home of the Astors and a place of some notoriety in the early 1960’s following the Christine Keeler / Mandy Rice-Davies / John Profumo et al scandal.
Our area is also well served for cinemas and theatres with the Cineworld complex in the new Eden shopping centre in High Wycombe, www.cineworld.co.uk , the Empire in High Wycombe and the Odean at Gerrards Cross.
The Shelley Theatre in Court Garden is home to our local ‘amdram’ group, www.marlowplayers.org.uk , while The Wycombe Swan and .... in High Wycombe offer a full and varied programme of events.
